savvy navvy helps alert users to no access zones following major oil leak in Dorset

All-in-one navigation app savvy navvy has updated its charts to alert users to avoid using the water and beaches in the Poole Harbour area following the oil spill incident earlier this week.

A major incident was declared after 200 barrels of reservoir fluid entered Poole harbour in Dorset on Sunday (26 March) due to a pipeline leak and the UK Health Security Agency has asked that people avoid using the beaches and water in the Poole Harbour area for any recreational use until further updates become available. This includes but is not limited to hand gathering of shellfish, swimming, bathing, watersports, fishing and angling.

“We are so sad to hear about this incident and wanted to swiftly update our charts to let users know about the ongoing situation. Hopefully our clearly marked ‘No swimming’ zones will help boaters be vigilant and spread the message while the incident is in progress,” says Jelte Liebrand, Founder & CEO of savvy navvy.

For official updates about the incident follow Poole Harbour Commissioners on their site here: https://www.phc.co.uk/
