savvy navvy launches paddleboard Navigation app & YellowV partnership

savvy navvy brings their ‘savvy’ and simple navigation app to any watersports adventurers. With more than a quarter of a million boaters already using the all-in-one navigation app, savvy navvy has launched functionalities for stand-up paddleboarders ahead of a new season.

savvy navvy makes navigation easier and amalgamates weather, tides and charts into one handy app, along with a host of innovative features. Last year SUP boarder, Brendon Prince, used the navigation app to become the first person to circumnavigate mainland Britain on a paddleboard, commenting on its “fantastic wind and tide functionalities” supporting his epic challenge.

Jelte Liebrand, Founder and CEO of savvy navvy says: “We are so excited to have added a dedicated route planning tool to our app supporting paddleboarders, as we know hundreds of thousands of people take part in one of the UK’s fastest growing watersports.

“savvy navvy really is as simple as ‘Google Maps for the water’. Our savvy charts™ have been built from the ground up, showing essential marine information with a clean and easy-to-view interface for safety and ease of use. Our weather, wind and tide functions will help new and experienced paddleboarders with increased confidence to get out onto the water safely.”

New partnership – YellowV boards

This week savvy navvy launched a partnership with SUP producer YellowV, offering every person buying a YellowV board a year’s free Essential subscription plan with savvy navvy.

“YellowV’s mission is to get people off the couch and onto the water. We feel watersports should be safe and accessible for everyone, and we provide quality products to make this possible. We want to make our products special by adding unique features that our users undoubtedly appreciate.

“When savvy navvy crossed our path, we realised we have a lot in common: we share the same passion for high-quality products; we both focus on user comfort; our common goal is to safely maximize your enjoyable time on the water. We are excited to offer this added benefit to our customers, so they can safely enjoy their time on the water this coming season,” says Nick Tuinenburg, Sales Product Manager from YellowV.

savvy navvy has grown rapidly since Dorset-based Jelte Liebrand and co-founder Kevin O’Neill launched less than five years ago. They are constantly evolving, changing and pushing new innovation of their navigation app based on user feedback. They want to give anyone on the water, whether it’s a paddleboarder, a kayaker or someone in a 50ft yacht access to their platform, which today is used in more than 100 countries globally.

About savvy navvy

Simplifying boating technology has always been the aim of savvy navvy, founded by lifelong sailor and ex Googler Jelte Liebrand. He was baffled at the amount of data sources you needed to get a clear picture of where you were, what the tide was doing, what weather to expect, how to plot your course to steer and how to find a good anchorage or marina and then how to share your plans with your buddies and family. He focused on tech that is already in the hands of most boaters. So, turning a phone or tablet into your boating buddy seemed like an obvious next step. In less than five years, savvy navvy has attracted global users from all over the world all using the app to help their experience on the water. As part of savvy navvy’s continuous growth, they have expanded to support kayakers, jet-skiers and paddleboard GPS with simplified navigation.

Today savvy navvy is available on Android, IOS, PC and Mac and can be used on an unlimited number of devices simultaneously.
