The savvy navvy beta is here!

Posted on Tuesday, Jan 9, 2018 | reading time: 2 min

What’s savvy navvy all about?

Our mission is to take the hassle out of planning a sailing trip because today, we think it’s harder than it should be.

To work out the best route to your destination you need to piece together data from a bunch of different sources including charts, wind, weather, tides, busy shipping lanes (to name but a few) then when underway, constantly monitor each in case you need to change your plan.

savvy navvy combines and cross-references all the necessary data-sets for you, and automatically generates a ‘click and sail’ route to your destination. It will also update in real time should conditions change during your passage, allowing you to spend less time at the chart table, and more time on deck.

Sounds great, tell me about the beta.

As the saying goes, “all great things start from small beginnings”, and the same is true for us. The early version (available on the web) allows you to select a start and end point on the chart and have the route between the two automatically calculated, accounting for current wind conditions and charted depths.

Now we know there’s a lot more that goes into planning a route, so you’ll start to see these features (plus many more) added over the coming months.

Wow, sounds amazing! How do I try it?
